7 Steps to Higher Affiliate Profits

7 Steps to Higher Affiliate Profits

A very common mistake that many affiliate marketers make is
in choosing which affiliate products to promote. Many of
these people look for just 3 criteria:

1. Highest commission.
2. Highest payout percentage.
3. Highest price.

They use these 3 criteria because they mistakenly believe
that this strategy will earn them the most money. But
unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. On
the surface, it may seem reasonable to expect that a product
selling
for $97 with a 75% payout will make you much
more money than a $20 product with a 20% payout. But this is
not always the case. There is probably a good reason why
they are offering you a 75% commission. The reason is
usually a lack of sales.

On the other hand, the product with the 20% commission may
generate ongoing sales on a regular basis. So, if you have
been selecting your affiliate products using the system
above, and you are making little or no money, make some
changes. If you want to make higher affiliate profits, try
using the selection criteria below and watch your profits
grow.

1. Begin your research by looking for products that are
closely related to your niche. Targeted products that are
related to the subject of your website will sell at 10 times
the rate of unrelated ones.

2. Visit the sales page of each product that you are
considering. Is it compelling? Does it look professional?
Would you buy the product based on the information presented?
If you did not answer 'yes' to all of these questions,
eliminate that product from your list.

3. How well is the product converting? Sometimes, a merchant
will give you that information if you ask. Stick with
products that are converting at rates in excess of 1%.

4. What is the Alexa Ranking of the sales page you are
considering? Basically, the Alexa Ranking indicates how many
websites are bigger than the site in question. The lower the
Alexa Rank, the larger the site, and larger sites tend to
sell more product. Look for sites that have an Alexa ranking
of 100,000 or less.

5. Do a search for the product and determine the amount of
competition. Stay away from products that everyone is
promoting and look for items with less competition.

6. Go to large forums related to your niche and research the
products that you are considering. Eliminate any products
that get bad reviews. Make sure the products you promote are
of the highest quality.

7. Narrow your list down to no more than 5 products and
diversify based on price. That is, try to find separate
products that are selling in the following ranges: $10, $20
- $25, $30 - $40, $60 - $70, and $100.
Some buyers want
lower priced products while others seek out expensive ones.
By offering a good mix, you have something for everyone.

Notice that none of the criteria listed above has anything
to do with your commissions or payout. If you take care of
your customer, the commissions will take care of itself. So
try using the 7 steps above and start making higher
affiliate profits.
